5 Ways To Develop Your Intuition

The dictionary defines intuition as “the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.” Intuition is a tool that all of us have. It is often referred to as a “gut feeling.” Some people view it as a mystical power. Others, as our subconscious telling us something. Psychology Today describes intuition as “a form of knowledge that appears in consciousness without obvious deliberation. It is not magical but rather a faculty in which hunches are generated by the unconscious mind rapidly sifting through experience and cumulative knowledge.

As we get older, we often learn to ignore that little voice. We turn to logic and focus on being practical. But we’ve experienced a lot over the years, and our brain has accumulated this wisdom.

Try these techniques to develop your intuition:

  1. Meditate for a few minutes each day. One characteristic of intuition is that it has a soft voice most of the time. It can be challenging to notice it if our minds are busy and distracted. Meditation is a great way to quiet the mind a bit and make room for our intuition to come through.

• A simple technique to clear your mind is to count your breaths and attempt to stay focused on your breathing. Avoid letting your mind wander.
